Safety tips
Most pickups are easy and friendly. A few simple habits help keep them that way. Always trust your gut.
Meeting up
- Prefer daylight and busy public places—many police stations offer safe exchange spots.
- Bring a friend, or tell someone where you're going and when.
- Keep the conversation in Pendi chat so there's a record.
- If something feels off, it's okay to leave. Your safety comes first.
Porch & home pickups
- Only release your exact address when you're ready—Pendi keeps it private until then.
- Porch pickups or garage meetups mean nobody needs to come inside.
- Consider a doorbell camera and having someone home with you.
Paying & getting paid
- Inspect the item before you pay. Test electronics when possible.
- Pay at pickup, not in advance. Be cautious of anyone asking for a deposit or gift cards.
- Double-check payment app usernames. Payment app transfers are usually final.
- Pendi never processes payments and can't recover money sent between users.
Spotting scams
- Prices that seem too good to be true, pressure to act fast, or requests to move off-platform.
- Requests for verification codes. Never share a code texted to you.
- Overpayment "refund" schemes or shipping-only offers for local items.
